Primary - Introduction of ePortfolio Tools - Learning Stories & e-Reflections Hi Phil,
Glad you've had a chance to look at my writing e-reflections - I deleted the one we made together and wrote a slighly more detailed one!
Feedback - kids love it - I can write comments in their books and they never read them, but they all know if I have commented on their KnowledgeNet writing!!! Also the parent feedback is very positive. Started off with 6 parents and am now up to 10 as a result of parents asking if they could be joined up - they asked because of other parents telling them how great it is!!!! It has been suprizingly successful with my asperges boy, who hates sharing his work. He loves putting his writing on the computer and Mum was over the moon because for the first time she and her husband were able to look together at their son's work!!!
Parents have commented that they enjoyed seeing their childs work and their own assessment and liked being able to take part in the assessment process. They liked being able to see their childs work at home where both Mum and Dad could share it.
The children and I now want to extend our e-reflections to other subjects and now I think the children are ready to be involved in writing the assessment criteria!
I have my e-portfolio staff meeting this Monday, which I think I am OK for - I am going to show what Year 2's can do and demonstrate how easy it is to make their own!!!

RangiNet is fast becoming our one stop portal of information for both Teachers and Students. We no longer have to physically 'go looking' for where information is housed. As Teachers we need training in how to use RangiNet...Students do not. To me that says it all. It is second nature to them, as we are now experiencing the first wave of the 'Digital Native'. We have undergone massive change in the way we manage our workload. We are told we have to work 'smarter not harder' to survive. The sharing of resources was always the way for us to succeed in this. Now we have a vehicle for doing this easily and effectively. Dataview has always operated on a very professional level. They have remained open to communicate with and know that schools run with very rigid time-tabling structures, peculiar to no other sector. The support that we here at Rangitoto College have received has been exemplary. In some cases our problems/questions have been solved or answered in seconds.
I personally have enjoyed the support that I receive from Dataview in my position as RangiNet Manager. Regards Russell Pattison Rangitoto College is New Zealand largest secondary school with approx 3200 students.

Here is a quote from Grandparent about their grandsons ePortfolio within KnowledgeNET.
“We’ve viewed Kris’s activities on your site. What a marvelous way of recording personal educative developmental growth. As biased grandparents we are sure we can see the initial signs of genius. Keep up the great work." Peter and Gran School Board of Trustees Chairman Our Board is very committed to implementing KnowledgeNet as a tool to assist learning in the modern curriculum. Amongst other things it will be very helpful in connecting parents and caregivers with their childrens learning. |
